Native Filipino Food

Part of Filipino tradition is "kainan", which means "eating". It is a way of connecting people together by way of gathering in a friend's house, and preparing "native Filipino foods. Recently, my sister went to a gathering of Ilonggo bloggers at SM Iloilo Mall, an event that showcasts the most notable Filipino food. Among them are: "halo halo", this word means "fruit mix". A mixture of buko, beans, sweetened banana, nata de coco and ube mixed in crushed ice, milk and sugar. This is one favorite Filipino dessert especially during summer.

"Bangus" or "milkfish" is a very significant food of Filipinos. Not only is it considered as the "Philippine National Fish" but it is also the most common dish set in every Filipino home. Filipinos love fishes either fried, grilled or mixed with vegetables. In this picture, it is "boneless grilled bangus" usually dipped in soysauce and "calamansi" or "citrus fruit". You can also see this food serve as "pulutan" during drinking sessions.
